Jane Choi, CLF, LUTCF

Jane Choi was born in South Korea Jane came to USA as a young teenager.  She grew up in Orange County, CA and graduated from UC Irvine with BA.  She also obtained MA in Education.  In her early career, she taught school, worked in banking, and as a human resource manager.  Before Jane joined NYL, she was the owner of a successful fine jewelry store in Louisville, Kentucky for a 11 years.  

Jane joined NYL in September of 2001, and was an agent for 2 1/2 years, accomplished 3 consecutive Million Dollar Round Table member, was PC agent before she was  promoted to a Partner in February of 2004. She was consistently among the top 10 partners in the company and won consecutive years of Gathering of Eagles (Top recruiters club) before she was promoted to Managing Partner of Central Coast General Office in May 2008.   As the Managing Partner Jane grew the office and received national trophies. 

In 2010, she became first female member of MPAC, New York Life’s Managing Partner’s Advisory Council. She served as MPAC member from 2010-2011.

Jane is very excited to take on an Executive Partner role in the Orange Coast General office.  This will allow her to be closer to her family and her home, especially to her Dad who is rapidly aging needs of her attention.   
She has been married to Billy for 30 years and has a proud son Tim who is married to a beautiful Lydia and a delightful daughter Kristi. Jane is counting her family as the biggest blessing and inspiration to her life. 


Jim Heynen, CLF

Jim brings 26 years of industry experience. Before joining New York Life, he was the Managing Director with AIG for 15 years, and was Associate Managing Director with Prudential for 12 years. He is a life member of MDRT, and holds the CLF designation.  

Jim is a Southern California native and a graduate of Long Beach State.  He is also the proud father of two boys, Luke a high school senior and Reed a sophomore at UCLA.  He loves to travel and is an avid surfer who also enjoys snowboarding and wake boarding with his two sons.



Joan Huang, CLU, LUTCF

Joan brings 27 years of experience to New York Life after retiring from Met Life. Joan started her career in 1988 as a Financial Services Representive with MetLife achieving Leaders Conference in her first year and was also named Rookie of the Year. Within two years, she attained the position of Associate Branch Manager helping the branch to become number one branch ouf 72 offices in the Western Territory.  One year later, she took on the responsibility of Regional Field Training Specialist.  Two years later, Joan was promoted to Product Wholesaler for the Western Territory.  She also held the title of: Functional Manager, Regional Field Training Specialist, Territory Product Wholesaler and Managing Director. She retired from MetLife as a Managing Sales Director of Southern California.


Gigi Nguyen

A career with New York Life suited Gigi Nguyen’s altruistic sensibility. She was looking for an opportunity to impact people’s lives when she signed on to be an agent. The flexibility of the career, along with its income potential, pension, comprehensive training and advancement opportunities, were also important attributes that attracted Gigi to the New York Life. 

In her first year as an agent,she qualified for the prestigious Million Dollar Round Table, the hallmark of achievement in the financial services industry based on sales performance. She also qualified for President's Council as a top producer at New York Life. And, in just under three years, Gigi was promoted into management as an Associate Partner in 2015.  Gigi hopes to help new agents accomplish their goals the same way she achieved her own — with the backing of New York Life’s renowned training and support of its sales force.

Gigi is a graduate of George Mason University in Fairfax, VA with BA in commercial art. She worked in Nutrition industry as a Creative Director for 14 years and is a devoted environmentalist.  Gigi believes strongly in sustainability— be it ecological or financial. She also has two certifications in environmental sustainability and has worked the the non profit sector doing environmental advocacy work.


Nicholas Soo

Nicholas has 28 years of experience in the insurance and financial services industry.  He started as an agent for Prudential in 1988.  After 12 years working for two large financial service firms, he started an independent financial advisory firm with a business partner in 2000, which he personally built to 4000 policies in force and over $100 million in assets under management.  He sold his practice in 2013 and has been in management - recruiting, training and developing new and experienced agents ever since.  

Nicholas has been married to his wife, Pat for more than 20 years.  They have twin boys, Russell and Jonathan.  In his spare time, he enjoys participating in his boys' Boy Scouts activities, watching them play basketball, outdoor activities, and reading 3-4 books per month.


Lovely Ravelo,MBADevelopment Manager


Lovely started her career with New York Life in July 2012  Prior to joining the company, she spent just over 14 years with a major bank in various roles.  She graduated from Cal State Fullerton with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and then earned her Masters in Business Administration at Pepperdine University.  After spending three and half years as an agent, Lovely was promoted to be a Development Manager at the Orange Coast office in February 2016.  She was born in the Philippines but came to the US at the age of 5 growing up in the Orange County area where she still resides.  In her spare time, Lovely enjoys travelling, hanging out at the beach and loves spending time with her family and friends


Daniel was born in Long beach and grew up with his single mom all over the Orange County area. He started the work force at the age of 13 at his local Church and hasn't looked back yet. Over the years of education and different professions he has developed a unique talent in motivating others to achieve their best. Daniel is a big dreamer and has always dreamed of creating lucrative businesses from nothing. With the help of a long time friend, Daniel started his career with New York Life in 2009. He quickly moved through the ranks and has been recognized for many New York Life sales accomplishments such as Executives councils, annuity champion, investment leader and life paid case rate awards. He dedicates his time to the development of his agents and always puts their needs first. He was married in 2012 and looks forward to starting a family in the near future. He enjoys traveling around the world and playing as many sports as he can. As a big dreamer Daniel lives and dies by the saying, " Dream as if you will live forever but live as if today was your last.Chris Buccola
Senior Agency Standards Consultant

Chris Buccola joined the Pacific Zone Agency Standards team as the Sr. Agency Standards Consultant of the Orange Coast General Office in July 2012.  After joining the financial services industry in 1993, he worked at several large insurance companies in various compliance related roles.  Chris joined New York Life in May of 2005 as a Director in the Corporate Compliance Field Review Unit and was promoted to AVP in March of 2011.  Chris is a graduate of the State University of New York at Plattsburgh and holds his Series 6, 7, 24, 63 and 65 as well as his State of New York Life, Accident & Health insurance license.

Chris, his wife Ann, and their two daughters Shannon and Kaitlyn, reside in South Orange County.  Chris enjoys spending time with family, the beach (of course), Lake Mission Viejo and helping out with his daughters softball teams.


Marina A. Parsons
Corporate Vice President - Service

Originally from Portland, Oregon, Marina Parsons began her career with New York Life Insurance Company in May 2005 in the Administrative Manager Training program in the Greater Oregon General Office.  She moved to Scottsdale to continue her training and assist in running the Arizona General Office.  In August 2007 she was appointed her first office, the Orange Coast General Office and oversees an administrative staff of 12.  Marina earned her degree from Linfield College in International Business and holds the CLU and ACS designations and Series 99 license.
